  34. Well, I see that the ARRL committee has now decided what specific type
  35. of networking is best for us, and seeks to codify it into law.
  36.  
  37. The band plan, as set forth, requires nothing less than 56kb, and because
  38. of its bandwidth and explicit 'signalling rate' restrictions, prohibits
  39. anything above 56kb.  Looks like we're going to have a 56kb network, folks.
  40. Hope that's fast enough for you, dude.

  42. And get a load of the administrative requirements!  For the first time,
  43. NON-Repeater operations will have to apply for a COORDINATED SANCTION before
  44. they can go on the air.  There's a bunch of beaurocratic hoopage to jump
  45. through before operation is to be permitted; it seems to me that this is
  46. more in keeping with a fee-for-service commercial data highway than an
  47. experimental radio service such as hams have traditionally been.

  49. Couple that with the latest proposal that indemnifies ham frequency
  50. coordinating bodies from lawsuits and redress, and you've got the
  51. thin end of the wedge for sure.  How long after this gets adopted do we
  52. wait for a proposal to allocate specific frequencies for, say, NTS Nets
  53. on 40 meters?  What difference is there between that and what is
  54. proposed here?

  56. Should we just let NABER handle the coordination?

  58. We should see how this turns out in the NPRM, and be sure to comment
  59. upon it vigorously.

  94. It's not just at power up -- the same thing happens when entering KISS
  95. from command mode. Once the LEDs have stopped flashing, there's no
  96. problem.
